Score a post before it goes live

Use the Viral Score to pick a title, catch rule problems and fix an X post before you publish

The Viral Score answers at once, so it fits right before you post. You need a key with viral:score, which members can grant.

Pick a Reddit title

Score up to three titles in one call. Each is billed, so send the ones you would really use.

curl -s https://app.makesmores.com/api/v1/viral-score \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SMORE_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"network": "reddit",
"subreddit": "running",
"titles": [
"One change that took my 10k from 48:10 to 44:05",
"How I got faster at 10k without running more"
],
"body": "Twelve weeks ago I added one interval session a week and kept every other run easy."
}' > score.json
jq '.variants | sort_by(.rank)' score.json

Read p_top10 with lift: a lift of 2 means twice the subreddit's usual chance of reaching the top 10%. helps and hurts say what drove it.

Catch rule problems

jq '[.rules[] | select(.status == "warn")]' score.json

A rule marked warn may catch this post. automod_held shows how often the subreddit's automoderator holds posts, and new_account shows the first-post penalty if you score with "account": "first_post".

Fix an X post

curl -s https://app.makesmores.com/api/v1/viral-score \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SMORE_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"network": "x", "post": "Our API is live. Check it out."}' \
| jq '{score, replyBait, improve}'

improve gives two concrete changes tied to the weakest signals. Edit, score again, and post when you are happy. The score is S'more's estimate; X does not make it.

In an agent

Over MCP, predict_viral_score takes the same fields. A good instruction is: "Score these three titles for r/running with predict_viral_score and tell me which to use and why."
