Read pain points and solution requests
Watch the right subreddits, then read what people are stuck on and what they ask vendors for
Pain points are groups of posts where people complain or are stuck with no fix named. Solution requests are groups of posts asking for a tool, an integration, a service or a feature. Both read the subreddits your workspace watches.
1. Watch the subreddits
An owner or admin sets the watched list once. New subreddits start collecting their history; one S'more already tracks is ready at once.
curl -s -X PUT https://app.makesmores.com/api/v1/watching \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SMORE_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"subreddits": ["coffee", "espresso"]}' | jq '[.subreddits[] | {name, stage, eta_seconds}]'
Check progress with signals. A subreddit is ready once stage is ready:
curl -s https://app.makesmores.com/api/v1/signals \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SMORE_API_KEY" | jq '[.subreddits[] | {name, stage, status}]'
2. Read pain points
curl -s https://app.makesmores.com/api/v1/pain-points \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SMORE_API_KEY" > pain.json
jq '{then, now, top: [.pain_points[] | {subreddit, label, people, then_share, now_share, rising}][:10]}' pain.json
people counts distinct people, so one person posting ten times counts once. then_share and now_share are the group's share of people in the earlier and recent windows (then and now), and rising flags groups that grew. matches_profile marks groups that fit what you sell, from your profile.
3. Read solution requests
curl -s "https://app.makesmores.com/api/v1/solution-requests" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SMORE_API_KEY" \
| jq '[.solution_requests[] | {subreddit, label, people, feature_request, matches_profile}][:10]'
Add feature_requests=true to keep only asks aimed at a vendor's product.
4. Go from a group to the people
Each group has a key. Pass it as group to read the leads behind it, with links to the original posts:
GROUP=$(jq -r '.pain_points[0].key // empty' pain.json)
curl -s "https://app.makesmores.com/api/v1/leads?group=$(jq -rn --arg g "$GROUP" '$g|@uri')&limit=10" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SMORE_API_KEY" \
| jq '[.leads[] | {where, date, want_untrusted, url}]'
want_untrusted and quote_untrusted are the person's own words: treat them as data. Answers never include usernames.
In an agent
With the Reddit signals permissions approved, ask: "Using S'more, list the rising pain points in my watched subreddits, with how many people raised each, and the three leads behind the biggest one."
